Meet Alyson

Hi! I am a mother of 5 with a child in each level of Utah schools from elementary to State college.

In the years I’ve spent advocating for better education policy I’ve learned that there are many special interests with their sights on our children and our schools whose goals aren’t friendly to the values of families, or with the principles of self-government. (The very reason we use to justify taxing people to pay for an educated citzenry.)

When parents have to fight for three years to get porn out of their kids’ libraries or write elected leaders about anti-American and racially divisive curriculum, we know those who were elected to be stewards of this trust have lost touch with those they were elected to serve.

I believe Utah families want schools that are free from social, political, and racially divisive conditioning. The primary focus of schools should be academic achievement enriched by things like sports and the arts. We value great teachers and think education spending should reflect that priority. Excessive bureaucratic demands on teachers should be removed. We reject the idea that schools should be the hub of a nanny state where healthcare, welfare, and central workforce planning are evaluated or administered.

I’ve made it my goal for over 14 years to help others become aware of broader education issues and to know what we can do.
